All Marching to the Election…

It has been too long since my last post – I blame the sleep deprived miasma that I have been fighting thanks to our lovely (but trying) second child! I’ll be working to get more posts out in the near future as there has been so much happening in many different areas…

Even for the sleep deprived the march towards March 9th and the State Election has been very much centre stage with many an interesting election promise / plan / platform that is close to the areas that I have talked about in the past. With that in mind I thought that I would raise a few of them here today:

Science and Innovation

Let’s start with Science and Innovation – the Premier has flagged the economic diversification of WA through Science – you can read about it here (if you are a subscriber) or you can have a look at the Lib’s press release.  At first it sounds very interesting – however it falls short on where I would like to see some consideration for ICT / the development of a Knowledge Economy….  but it is a start.

Transportation

Metronet – sounds pretty exciting (although the cutbacks for funding it may be a bit harsh) – it has at least increased the focus on the Liberal’s Max project – including the link to the Perth Airport… you can find the release here.  In addition the Greens are also in on the act…

No matter what happens on the 9th of March it will be interesting to see what the next 4 years has to offer for WA.  There is a lot of opportunity for investment in the infrastructure for the future of WA that will enable my sleep depriving son to have a great future here in WA…

Geez – that all seems a bit too political – I must have listened to too many ads of late.

I’ll jump off that horse and have some more constructive observations and ideas next time… and it will be soon… honest!

Cheers  Tom
