Back in February I mentioned the Leader of the National Party here in WA – Brendon Grylls proposing the focus on development of Super Towns as a possible policy to aid in the appropriate expansion of country towns on the basis of existing economic drivers… Back then in February I had the opportunity to talk to him about his ideas and they appeared to be sound and now there is some news to talk about in relation to Super Towns.
Here is a list of a few published news articles about the Super Towns that may be of interest:
- Inital press (and video) of the Super Towns ideas by GWN from the initial launch at one of the CEDA Inventing the Future events (February 10).
- Support for a development plan for Northam (March 19).
- Collie supporting the Super Towns policy (March 31).
- Some notes about Moora supporting Super Towns (April 3).
All in all it is interesting to see that there is support for the development of the next tier of regional towns (on the basis that there is an existing economic driver). I’ll keep tabs on this and keep you up-to-date.
One wishes that we had a politician with the motivation and tenacity to support the Knowledge Economy.
