Future Changes to South Perth?

Reading last Friday’s West Australian I noted with some interest the proposed redevelopment plans put forward by the City of South Perth for the Old Mill precinct.  A change is as good as a holiday and the area has been quite stagnant for some time – essentially just being the southern support for the freeway (and railway now).

It is interesting to see that they are keen to return the old Miller’s Pool (shown below) – somewhat of a change to the standard limestone river walls everywhere else!

No doubt there will be the usual ‘concerns’ and comments – especially in relation to the flying fox and the ‘serpent bridge’… but sometimes you have to make a change to attract some interest to a highly underused area (unless you are one of those jet skiers!).

Now lets see if we can get an update on Premier Barnett’s plans for the Perth Foreshore.
